Microsoft achieved a marketing coup today by sneaking the most recognisable symbol of their Windows operating system into the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics. The iconic "Blue Screen of Death" appeared on the roof of the National Stadium during the grand finale, upstaging official Olympic sponsors who pay large amounts to have their logos associated with the games.
Major Microsoft competitor, Linux, grudgingly applauded the stunt and conceded that they couldn't match the Redmond effort. Apple was unavailable for comment but unofficial sources have reported Apple employees trying to get in to the beach volleyball venue.
